UFO sightings aren’t new–there were plenty all the way back in ancient Rome!
Chances are, there is life somewhere out in the stars—whether they've ever visited Earth or not is up for some heated debate. If you go back and ask the ancient Romans, they'll be on the side of UFOlogists with reports dating back to 214 BCE.
Ancient aliens isn't just a popular History Channel show, it also has some credible evidence with early eyewitness accounts. In 214 BCE there were reports of “ships in the sky” near Rome. Titus Livius Patavinus, a Roman historian who wrote the history of Rome, recounted “phantom ships had been seen gleaming in the sky.”
In the Classical Antiquity era there were at least 7 recorded instances of abnormal lights and ships seen in the sky. Perhaps one of the most terrifying sightings happened during the War of the Jews in 70 AD in Jerusalem. During the siege of Jerusalem a bright light was seen over the Temple in Jerusalem. It was said that “there appeared in the air over the whole country chariots and armed troops coursing through the clouds, surrounding the cities.” That's the last thing you need while your city is under siege!
