Hackers according to stock photo sites. Kevin Mitnick played a computer expert in the first season of ‘Alias;’ He had to use dummy computers! Why?
Kevin Mitnick is best known as a man who has a special talent for hacking into computers. Things began to get problematic for Mitnick in the 1990’s when he obtained information about firms such as Sun Microsystems, MCI, and Motorola through hacking. He managed to escape punishment for a time, but his deeds caught up to him in February of 1995 when he was arrested.
His violations landed him in prison for five years, for four and a half of which he was held without bail. Then he served an additional eight months. After having gotten through his sentence, he was cast as a character in the TV show ‘Alias’ in it's first season back in 2001. The show, by the way, followed the life of a woman who was a college student and sometime spy.
His legal troubles mostly behind him, there was one little problem that had to be overcome. Since Mitnick was still going through a probation period, he was legally not allowed to use computers without being told he could do so by his parole officer. The producers of the show came up with a way to escape breaking the rules–they simply used a dummy computer for filming.
