Twenty percent of the tracks on Spotify have never been listened to! What these people did in response is awesome
Most people like to listen to music in a specific genre or music by artists they already know and love, never bothering to explore the endless landscape that is Music. This is exactly why, by February 2014, there were 4 million music tracks never before played on Spotify and were waiting to be discovered. That comes to a total of 20% of the tracks on Spotify!
Enter Forgotify! Forgotify is a Web app that makes it it's business to deliver those tracks never before discovered to music lovers everywhere who are interested in something unusual and different to the Justin Biebers and Ke$has of the musical universe.
To have never been played even once, it means that these tracks could be in a foreign language or they could be rather obscure. This means you might have to go through a bit of an 'America's Got Talent' audition round to find the gem you are looking for, but for a true music lover it could also mean the find of a lifetime and that would make it all worthwhile.
Once you play a track, it disappears from Forgotify forever, because it's singular moment of exposure is enough to remove it from the never-before-played list of shame.
