Thanks to being denied as a child, Muhammad Ali vowed to sign every autograph asked of him!

Muhammad Ali's autograph may be a special find, but chances are it isn't very rare.

Turns out that Ali never denied anyone an autograph throughout his career thanks to his boxing idol, Sugar Ray Robinson, who denied him one as a child.

Sugar Ray Robinson was once the greatest boxer of his time. In fact the phrase “pound for pound, the best” was coined just for him.

He held the world welterweight title from 1946 all the way to 1951 and was a middleweight champ five times between 1951 and 1960. He was also one of the first African American athletes that managed to pave the way for the greats like Muhammad Ali.

Ali called Robinson “the king, the master, my idol.” Such a shame that his idol denied him a simple autograph at a young age.

Lucky for the millions of Ali fans though, the event made such a lasting impact that Ali vowed to never disappoint a fan by denying them a couple seconds of his time.
