Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are not only childhood friends since their pre-teen years, they are also tenth cousins (once removed)!
Have you ever noticed how many movies Ben Affleck and Matt Damon worked on together? If you haven't, it's about seven.
They were both Executive Producers on the same movie three times and both were Producers on the 2002 movie "Stolen Summer".
The two actors go way back and were friends since Ben was eight and Matt was ten. They lived just two blocks away from each other and became very close friends after being introduced to each other by their mothers.
Although they were in different grades in high school, they spent most of their lunch breaks together discussing their dreams and plans of one day becoming actors. They also had summer jobs together and would save their money in a joint bank account that would be used to travel to auditions in New York.
But these two actors go even further back than being childhood friends! They are linked through a common New England ancestor. They are, in actual fact, tenth cousins, once removed!
Researchers dug up evidence that both Damon and Affleck are descended from William Knowlton Jr. He was a bricklayer who came to the U.S. from England in the 1630's and settled in Ipswich.
